DAAD Development Related Scholarship 2018/19: Scholarship in Germany for Developing Third World Country’s Students

German Academic Exchange Service(DAAD) has been offering different types of scholarship for academic research and training purposes. In every year DAAD announces a scholarship for post-graduate studies in Germany for the third world developing countries students to the development related subjects.

This organization supports ca.100000 both national and international students for the purposes of the study, research and training. These including the top most universities and research institutes in around the world.

Eligibility or Requirements:

  •  The Candidates should be graduates having at least two years of professional experience
  • Candidates have to fulfill the necessary academic requirements according to the institutes where they continue the study. The universities have different academic requirement out of the funding organization.
  • Candidates have a minimum four years Bachelor degree in the related subject of study.
  • The Candidates have to proof their nationality and strong motivation toward development-related activities proved by work experience including the social responsibility to change their country of interests after successful completion of the degree.

Scholarship Deadline:

The deadline depends on the universities. They have an own deadline for each. Generally, the scholarship offered in the session 2018/19 is mostly September to November 2017. Some courses are in the March of 2018.

Language Requirements:

  • Candidates have to proof of Language (German or English) skill demanded by the study universities and embassy for admission and successful visa applications.
    – English – IELTS or TOEFL (Note: Institutional TOEFL will not be accepted)
    – German – necessary for the courses taught in German; for the courses taught in English, if available

Country or Nationality Requirements: Only the following countries students can apply for this scholarship. But those people have been staying in Germany for 15 months during the application can not be eligible.

How to Apply: The mode of applying is by post or electronically.

You have to submit the following required documents (in the following order) either via post or email:

  • DAAD application form
  • Hand-signed CV (please use the europass specimen form at http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/)
  • Letter of motivation on the letter head pad of the working organization
  • Research Draft (some universities are required for admission)
  • Academic and Professional letter/s of recommendation from your university; the letter must have a signature and office stamp and must be of recent date (not in a sealed envelope but the institute may send the link directly to the referee requesting the letter)
  • Confirmation of employment from the employer in your home country and if possible, a guarantee of re-employment upon your return home
  • Copies of awarded academic degrees
  • Copies of academic transcripts
  • A copy of School Leaving Certificate
